VISITOR CONTROL
AUTOMATED INFORMATION SYSTEM
The Automated Information System (AIS) “Visitor Control” has been designed to process and
store information that supports the admission regime to the premises of organizations and
companies.
Processed and stored information:
AIS “Visitor Control” processes and stores information about:
“
Visits
of
persons
to
the building
" - data for the performed by persons visits to the building;
"
Permission of access to external
visitors
” – data for access permissions given to persons;
"
Prohibition
of a
visit
to
the
building
” – data for persons, in respect to whom strict security precautions should be taken at
the preliminary check up, or should not be admitted to the building.
Functional characteristics
:
Entry
of
data
about
visitor
identity
. Data is read by OCR reader in the machine-readable zone of the identity document of the
person – personal identity card, passport, card of a foreign national residing permanently in the
country, card of a foreign national residing on a long-term basis in the country, or passport of a
foreign national. An option has been provided for manual entry of data;
Automatic
comparison
of
the
entered
data
for
the
visitor to the input in advance data for:
Visit permission/Visit prohibition or
Former visit. Upon this comparison is automatically detected whether a
Visit
Permission
/
Visit
prohibition has already been recorded in the system. The system allows data
entry for former visits. Since data in the machine-readable zone of the personal identity
document is in the Roman alphabet, an option has been provided to be transformed to the
Cyrillic alphabet. The AIS can load automatically data from the ESGRAON array, in case that
the user officially has one at his disposal;
Printout
of
a visitor
’
s
pass. AIS “Visit control” provides an option for printout of a pass for the
visitor, for each of his visits. The data printed is: number of the pass, date of issuance,
name of the visitor, personal identity number, type and number of identity document, name of
visited official/department, entry time, exit time;
Registration of the exit time. When exiting the building, the visitor gives back his pass
and the exit hour is registered in the system;
Maintenance
of
updated
information in the database for
Visit permissions
. This information is entered to the AIS by confirmed written requests or by verbally
given permissions. The permissions may be valid for a definite date or period. The requests contain
additional information about the purpose of the visit or the purose for refusal. They may
refer to one person or to a list of persons. For convenience, this data can be entered upon
the visitor’s registration;
Maintenance
of
updated
information in the database about
Visit prohibitions. This information is entered to the AIS from official documents and is
valid for a definite period of time, within which the system signals automatically. The records
hold additional information about the cause for the prohibition and instructions about the
activities of the personnel;
Reference
activities
in
AIS
"
Visitor control
". The system provides tools for universal and standard queries. They can be performed at
any time and by arbitrarily selected set of characteristics;
System
administration
. AIS “Visitor control” provides a wide range of functional qualities for
administration – system configuration, user registration, defining the access of each user,
etc.;
Data protection
. AIS “Visitor control” provides tools for determination of individual access to the
functional activities of the system and to maintained data. It keeps automatic journal for the
performed activities.
Minimal requirements to the configuration
Depending on the specific circumstances, the system can operate at one workstation or at
several workstations connected within a network.
For the configurations of one workstation, it is necessary to provide:
o Average class computer operating with Windows 98 , 2000, XP,
2003,
o OCR reader,
o Special printer for pass printout.
Platform
independence
:
The system works with Relational Data Base Management Systems conformed to the SQL ANSI
standard - Oracle, Informix, Sybase, MS SQL Server, etc.
